The 13th annual "Walking the Labyrinth" event kicks off at 4 p.m. Dec. 31, in Wesley Hall, First United Methodist Church, 175 N. Main St., Ashland.

The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.

"The Sacred Walk provides the opportunity to walk the labyrinth in a peaceful oasis of beauty and inspiring live music. Many find it a welcome alternative way to end the old year and begin the new, especially amidst the tensions of the times," labyrinth leader Elizabeth Austin said.

Austin owns the 36-foot diameter canvas labyrinth used each year.

The labyrinth is an archetype for reconnecting with God. Those participating are asked to remove their shoes unless they are required for medical reasons. Those with difficulty walking or who require wheelchairs are welcome to go directly to the center, and can be assisted by a facilitator.
