The Medford City Council approved a $136,800 contract with a Seattle-based company Thursday after it cleared up an oversight regarding required state certification for private security operations.

Diamond Parking Services, which operates in Bend, Roseburg and Ashland, sent the required paperwork to the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.

A committee of city representatives reviewed requests for proposals from five companies, selecting Diamond as the first choice. Other runners-up were Action Parking in Medford and Vanguard in Medford.

Action Parking has the current parking enforcement contract; Diamond held it previously for eight years.
