Six local youth graduated from the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program, a statewide alternative high school, on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond.

Six local youth graduated from the Oregon National Guard Youth Challenge Program, a statewide alternative high school, on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond.

The graduates completed a five-and-a-half-month residential phase of the program. The class featured cadets from 64 high schools and 17 Oregon counties. The ceremony marks the 42nd time a class has graduated from the biannual program.

With 132 cadets, this was the largest graduating class in the program's history.

Randall Keberlein, Medford; Saul Ramirez, Medford; Austin Ganey, Medford, who also earned a $500 Jump Start Grant to help reach career and educational goals; Josef Winn, Medford; Seth Sanders, Central Point; Brendon Rempillo, Eagle Point, who also received outstanding physical training honors.
