Flora "Jean" Chancellor, 72, of Medford, Ore., was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 15, 2011.
Jean was born to Arthur and Margaret Weber on June 16, 1939, in Hayward, Calif. She graduated from Douglas High School, Winston, Ore., in 1957. Jean married John Paul DeRoss. They lived near Tenmile, Ore., and were blessed with two children, Roxanna and John Jr. In 1970, she moved to Medford, Ore. She later married Jesse "Sonny" Marion Chancellor Jr., and they were blessed with a daughter, Anna Jean.
For over 37 years Jean delivered for the Mail Tribune, bringing news and cheer to all. She donated for about 15 years to 4-H, enabling many children to experience the joys of the Jackson County Fair. Jean loved and gave to others without thought to herself. She had a great love of family and friends.
Jean is survived by her children, Roxanna (Alan) Sabin, of Camas Valley, Ore., John (Cindy) DeRoss Jr., of Tenmile, Ore., and Anna Jean Chancellor, of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Justin (Kelsy) Sabin and Joshua Sabin; Candy and Carrie Watson; Howard, Helynn, Cody, and Caleb Wood; and Joy, Clara, John III, Ruth, and Matthew DeRoss; great-grandchildren, Ila, Jake, and Casey Lynn Harp; mother, Lorraine Weber, of Roseburg, Ore.; brother, Jerry (Becky) Weber, of Portland, Ore.; nieces, Jenny and Heather; grandniece, Kaylea; as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny; and her parents, Arthur and Margaret.
A service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, 3:00 p.m., at Memory Gardens Memorial Park and Mortuary, 1395 Arnold Lane, Medford, Ore.
