Flora Louise Calhoon, of Dallas, Ore., passed away December 22, 2011. She was born on March 8, 1927, in Colony, Kans., to Urban and Gladys Whitaker. She grew up in Southern California and married James Calhoom in San Diego, Calif., on October 25, 1945. They had two children, Jerry and Michael. The family moved to Central Point, Ore., in 1950.

Louise enjoyed her family and loved to cook for family and friends. She was very involved in the First Presbyterian Church, Central Point, Ore., and passed the legacy of faith on to her son and grandchildren. Louise served the families of Central Point by providing Respite Care and enjoyed the opportunity to minister to others.

Louise is survived by her son, Jerry Calhoon, of Dallas, Ore.; two grandchildren, Ken (Kristie) Calhoon, of Vancouver, Wash., and Christiana (Jason) Beitel, of Dallas, Ore.; four great grandchildren, Cody, Carson, and Cameron Calhoon, of Vancouver, Wash., and Karalee Beitel, of Dallas, Ore.; two brothers, Urban and Howard Whitaker; and her sister, Margie Short. She is preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1999; their infant son, Michael, in 1948; her brother, Charles, in the Korean War; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Calhoon, in 2010.

An informal memorial reception will be held in Dallas, Ore., and is planned for mid January. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dallas First Presbyterian Church, in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center, who is handling the arrangements.
