SALEM — Davis Siliga's big play in regulation kept Cascade Christian alive, but unbeaten Western Mennonite prevailed 71-63 in double overtime in the championship game of the Salem Academy Crusader Christmas Invitational.

With three seconds left in regulation and the Challengers (5-4) trailing 49-46, Siliga drove the middle, made a running jumper and was fouled. He converted the three-point play to force the extra session.

In the second overtime, the Pioneers (10-0) scored the first five points and made their final seven free throws as CC was forced to foul.

The Challengers led by four in the first overtime, but Pioneers tied it with less than a minute left.

Alex Miller scored 19 points, Eric Morse 18 and David Sellers 16 for the Challengers, who have faced Western Mennonite the last three seasons in the title game. The Pioneers have claimed the last two.

ASHLAND 90, VANIER 51 — At Bend, senior Billy Hansen shot lights and set a school record of 39 points in the final round of the Summit Holiday Tournament.

Hansen was 5-for-8 on 3-pointers 8-for-8 on free throws.

The old scoring record was 37 points. Hansen's previous best was 36 points.

The Grizzlies (7-5) also got 14 points off the bench from Luke Pelagio.

SUMMIT 80, PHOENIX 73 — At Bend, Summit's hot shooting in a 26-point first quarter — including a 35-foot buzzer-beater — propelled it to third place in the Summit Holiday Tournament.

Phoenix, which had its 14-game winning streak snapped the day before by West Albany, trailed by 11 after one quarter and by the same margin at halfitme.It closed to within a basket more than once in a 44-point second half, but couldn't overtake the host.

The Pirates (9-2) got 24 points from Tyler Dungannon and 20 from Alex Young. Each scored 14 in the second half.

Calvin Loper moved from off guard to point guard, switching with Young, and played well for the Pirates, helping get their offense in motion.

Dungannon added eight rebounds, and Luke Brown had seven.

HIDDEN VALLEY 47, SWEET HOME 43 — At Stayton, Loren Craig made two free throws with eight seconds left to seal the win for Hidden Valley in the final round of the Stayton Christmas Classic.

Craig totaled 24 points and eight rebounds.

Greg Hurd added seven points and 10 rebounds for the Mustangs (4-7).
