Spearheaded by sophomore Baylee Toney, the Pirates held the visiting Mustangs scoreless in the first quarter and limited them to seven field goals overall in a 35-23 victory at Phoenix High.

Toney, a 5-foot-8 post, shadowed Hidden Valley's leading scorer Jenna King and got help-side support from her teammates to slow the Mustangs, who managed 11 points through three quarters.

Toney also managed to net seven points and pull down 10 rebounds, while 5-7 junior point guard Delanie Tally had 10 points, six steals and four assists for the Pirates (8-8, 2-3 Skyline). Roxy Ramirez and Kasey Hamilton also had six points for Phoenix.

King was limited to four points for Hidden Valley (2-16, 1-4), with Katelyn Lambert scoring six points.

KLAMATH UNION 47, NORTH VALLEY 19 — At Merlin, Klamath Union jumped out to a 17-3 first-quarter lead against cold-shooting North Valley.

The Knights (4-13, 0-5 Sky) were held to four points in the second half.

The Pelicans (12-5, 5-1) dominated the boards and forced 18 turnovers. KU's Hannah Armstrong notched a game-high 20 points.

North Valley was led in scoring by Kenzie Schmoll with six points.
