Dorothy J. Thomasson, 78, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012. She was born November 29, 1933, to her parents, Art and Neva Stinson.

She attended Medford High School. In 1955, she married Melvin A. Thomasson. She worked for the Central Point School District as a cook until her retirement.

She loved to crochet, knit, and read in her spare time. She had many collections that she loved to share with her family, which included salt and pepper shakers, buttons, and pens from everywhere she went. She had a passion for baking sweets and making candy.

She is survived by siblings, Ralph Stinson, of Stayton, Ore., Betty Hiner, of Tigard, Ore., and Sue Fauglid, of Prineville, Ore.; her sons, Jerry Thomasson, of Central Point, Ore., and Jim Thomasson, of Medford, Ore.; grandchildren, Julie Kelley, Jamie Andrews, Jessie Daughtrey, Tom Thomasson, Jason Thomasson, Jeff Thomasson, and Christa Thomasson; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the Providence Medford Medical Center Critical Care Unit nurses and doctors for their dedication during her last few days.

There will be a private service for the immediate family.
