A Medford man suspected of shooting and killing his wife early today is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail on a murder charge, police said.

Bourne Huddleston, 43, was arrested about an hour after Jackson County Sheriff's deputies found his wife, Kristy Huddleston, 34, dead from a gunshot wound in the couple's home along the 6600 block of Pioneer Road in Medford.

A 9-1-1 call around 2:10 a.m. reported a person bleeding. Jackson County Fire District No. 5 and deputies arrived to find Kristy Huddleston dead in the home. Police declined to comment on how she died.

The Huddlestons' 10-year-old son was at the home. He is currently in care of the Department of Human Services, sheriff's department spokeswoman Andrea Carlson said in a news release.

The deputies, Oregon State Police and Talent, Phoenix, Medford and Eagle Point police fanned out in an attempt to track down Bourne Huddleston. They tracked him to an Eagle Point residence. He was taken into custody without incident and jailed on a single murder charge.

Court records show no criminal record for Huddleston in Jackson County.

The case is still under investigation.
