HILLSBORO — Micah Brown and the North Medford baseball team were in prime form in the Glencoe Spring Break Tournament on Monday.

HILLSBORO — Micah Brown and the North Medford baseball team were in prime form in the Glencoe Spring Break Tournament on Monday.

Brown wielded a hot bat and was the starting and winning pitcher in a 10-2 win over Aloha to start the three-day tourney.

The Black Tornado (5-0) plays Glencoe at 6:30 p.m. today.

Brown, making his first appearance of the season on the mound, allowed a home run in the first inning. He gave up two runs — one earned — on three hits and five walks in five innings.

Bryan Carbonell finished up on the mound, surrendering a hit and striking out four.

Brown also went 2-for-4 and drove in three runs. Christian Gillis had two, two-out RBIs and went 3-for-4. Gillis also scored twice and stole two bases.

North's Jared Evans drove in two runs and had a pair of hits, and Hayden Evans had two hits.

EAGLE POINT 5-0, BEND 4-10 — At Eagle Point, Eagle Point edged Bend in the opener before getting shut out in nonconference action.

In the opener, Branden Wilson went 2-for-3 with a run for the Eagles, who took the lead in the bottom of the third inning. Evan Jolliffe's RBI double and James Dixon's run-scoring single put Eagle Point ahead for good.

Justin Mickey picked up the Game 1 win.

The Eagles (5-2) gave up 15 hits in the second game.

Stephen Parker struck out four and allowed two hits and one walk in five innings to earn the win for the undefeated Knights (6-0), who lost to Astoria in the Class 4A state championship game last season.

Joe Schmoll added an RBI double against Cascade Christian (5-2). Both of Todaro's hits were doubles.

ASHLAND SWEEPS — At Bend, Ashland senior Piper Cantrell finished her day 8-for-9 and the Grizzlies earned their first wins of the year, beating Mountain View 13-10 and Hillsboro 9-4 at the 12-team Central Oregon Tournament at Mountain View High.

Cantrell was 4-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs against Mountain View. Nicole Lehman went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs, Hannah Thornton 3-for-4 and Christina Kuykendall 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.

Freshman pitcher Georgia Williams got the win against the Cougars (2-2), striking out 13 and allowing four hits before older sister Savannah Williams replaced her in the seventh inning.

Ashland (2-4) finished with 17 hits against Mountain View.

Against Hillsboro, Cantrell was 4-for-4 with three runs, Teresa Lehman 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, Nicole Lehman 2-4 with two runs and an RBI and Georgia Williams 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Savannah Williams threw a four-hitter with five strikeouts and five walks en route to the victory.
