See how it all starts at "The Big Bang."

The Oregon Cabaret Theatre offers preview performances of this madcap musical about two overzealous playwrights who hope to produce an astonishing epic covering the history of the world from the big bang to present day with 318 cast members, 6,428 costumes, 1,400 wigs and 302 prosthetic devices and a $83 million price tag. They attempt to raise money for the ambitious project by presenting a shortened, two-man version.

The layers of wackiness unfurl at Friday's opening night at the theater at First and Hargadine streets, Ashland, but previews are offered tonight and Thursday at a discount. Show time is 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $19 for previews; regular prices range from $26 to $36. Tickets and more information are available at the box office, at www.oregoncabaret.com or by calling 541-488-2902.
