Medford police responded to a call for shots fired at a Crater Lake Avenue apartment complex Tuesday, but they didn't find much beyond a single shell casing.

"It's kind of a weird deal," Lt. Mike Budreau said.

Neighbors interviewed at the 700 Crater Lake Ave. complex said they heard two men arguing followed by a gunshot.

The apartment the gunshot came from was empty when officers arrived, and police have not been able to get in touch with either resident.

"If there was a bullet fired, we don't believe anyone was struck with it," Budreau said. "It's kind of a big question mark at this point."
