A Medford man is in jail for allegedly firing a gun at two children Wednesday afternoon because they were making too much noise, police said.

Medford police first responded to a call of shots fired in the neighborhood at 4:47 p.m. at the Shireen Trailer Park, 602 N. Riverside Ave.

Witnesses at the scene directed police toward the trailer of Danny Way, 42. Police surrounded Way's trailer until Way came out to meet them. Police arrested him without incident.

During the investigation, officers learned Way had gotten angry with the noise two children, age 9 and 14, were making. He went out to confront them with his 9 mm pistol and fired two shots over their heads. Neither child was hurt.

Police said they believe Way was trying to scare the children into quieting down but did not intend to injure them.

Way is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of menacing, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a weapon.
