Landslides triggered by heavy winds have closed a rural Curry County road in two places, isolating the lower Rogue River town of Agness.

The U.S. Forest Service says slides are now blocking Forest Road 33, also known as the Agness Road, at milepost 15 near the Quosatana Campground and at milepost 53 near China Flat.

Agness is around milepost 32 on that road.

Forest Service engineers are working to clear an estimated 5,000 cubic yards of debris to get the road open, but no time table has been set.

More slides are possible as this latest storm is forecast to dump as much as six inches of new rain in the Coast Range mountains today, according to the Forest Service.
