Ashland Fire-Rescue will collect yard debris from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in efforts to help get residential properties ready for fire season.

The debris drop-off will be at the old Lincoln Elementary School dirt parking lot across from Ashland High School. Organizers advise entering from Beach Street.

Fire officials will collect bags of leaves, pine needles, small branches, brush and other yard debris that Ashland residents gather from their yards. Plastic bags of debris will be emptied at the collection site so bags can be taken home, organizers said. Trash, stumps, logs and lumber will not be accepted. All debris will be composted.

It is free to drop off the materials.

The event is hosted by Recology Ashland Sanitary Service, Ashland Fire-Rescue and the Ashland Firewise Commission.
