Watch as a cast and crew of 60 Ashland Middle School students perform as dancing flatware, menacing wolves, and singing furniture.
The Ashland Middle School Drama Club presents Disney's "Beauty and the Beast Jr." at 7:30 p.m. in the Ashland Middle School Commons Theatre, 100 Walker Ave.
The musical, with a cast and crew of 60 middle school students, tells the classic story of the brainy and beautiful Belle who yearns to escape her provincial life and her brute of a suitor, Gaston. Belle gets more adventure than she wanted when she becomes a captive in the Beast's enchanted castle. Dancing flatware, menacing wolves, and singing furniture fill the stage with thrills in this "tale as old as time" about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love.
The play is directed by Dianna Warner, with musical direction by Kaitie Falk and choreography by Daniel Stephans. This program is funded by a grant from the Ashland Schools Foundation and the Ashland Academic and Activities Levy. There is a show Friday, too. Tickets cost $7.
