Virgil T. Harris, 89, a 16-year resident of Central Point, Ore., passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at White City Veteran's Hospital. He was born August 30, 1922, in Pueblo, Colo.
Virgil served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1943, when he was honorably discharged. He lived most of his life in Glendale, Ore., where he was employed by Robert Dollar Lumber Company as a lumber grader.
Virgil moved to Central Point, Ore., to be with Mildred Goodson, a widow whom he had known for many years. They married August 5, 1995 at Emanuel Temple in Medford, Ore. Together they enjoyed fishing, dominoes, and church.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Mildred Goodson Harris, of Central Point; stepson, Eldon Harris, of Roseburg, Ore.; stepgrandson, Andy Harris; Mildred Harris' children, Virginia Aline Goodson Bostwick, Elizabeth Ann Goodson Stansfield, Johnnie Sue Goodson Licea, Juanita Jean Goodson Sturges, Mary Evelyn Goodson Wedsted, John Emuel Goodson, and Jerry Dale Goodson; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 27, 2012, 2:00 p.m., at Emanuel Temple, 345 Mary Street, Medford, Ore., officiated by Reverend M.C. Picklesimer, of Anderson, Calif. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 30, 2012, 1:00 p.m., at Eagle Point National Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements are by Conger-Morris Funeral Home.
