Phoenix police are looking for a suspect who led an officer on a high-speed chase along Colver Road and South Pacific Highway Saturday morning.

Gregory Paul Costa, of Central Point, is wanted for allegedly eluding an officer following an attempted traffic stop on Colver Road, according to a news release.

An officer tried to pull Costa over for not wearing his seatbelt as he drove his 2004 Toyota Camry south on Colver Road at about 10:30 a.m. Costa pulled away at a high rate of speed, and the officer followed.

Police said the officer terminated the pursuit at South Pacific Highway because of traffic conditions. Police later found the car crashed into a fence at the intersection of Creel Road and South Pacific Highway in Talent. Costa already had fled on foot.

Talent and Ashland police, Oregon State Police and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office assisted in searching the area, but Costa still has not been found.

Anyone with information about Costa's whereabouts should call Phoenix police at 541-535-1113.
