Medford police will be part of a traffic safety campaign emphasizing proper seatbelt usage.

During the campaign, which runs through June 3, police will crack down on motorists who have not buckled up or have failed to keep children passengers weighing less than 40 pounds in required child safety seats. Police will also focus on proper safety belt fit. The lap belt should be placed low across the hips with the shoulder belt crossing the center of the chest over the collarbone, not under the arm or behind the back.

The campaign is a statewide effort with over 100 law enforcement agencies participating.
