CORVALLIS — Ryan Barnes hit a go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning and Oregon State went on to defeat the Oregon Ducks 7-3 Friday night in the opener of a weekend series to end the regular season.

The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for the Ducks (42-15, 19-9 Pac-12), who dropped into a tie for the conference lead with Arizona, which beat rival Arizona State 1-0 Friday night.

The win was the 614th for Beavers coach Pat Casey, making him the winningest coach in Oregon State history.

"It's great to do it the way we won it," Casey said. "I have so much respect for this program and people who came before me. I feel honored and blessed to be the head coach at Oregon State."

Ben Wetzler (7-2) allowed three runs on eight hits over 52/3 innings for Oregon State (36-18, 16-12). Reliever Scott Shultz pitched a shutout the rest of the way for his first save.

Alex Keudell (10-4) allowed five runs on five hits over 51/3 innings for the loss.

Aaron Jones, who gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead in the second on an RBI single, and J.J. Altobelli had two hits apiece for Oregon.

The win moved Casey into 13th place in Pac-12 history for most wins.
