MARION, Ind. — Southern Oregon closed out the second day of the 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University with one more All-American performance.

Sullivan Stevens competed in both the men's 110-meter hurdles semifinals and finals on Friday, finishing sixth in the final race with a time of 14.48.

"The highlight for today was Sullivan," SOU head coach Grier Gatlin said. "He was competitive in the semifinals and finals despite being pretty banged up the last four-to-six weeks, and he ran outstanding. He's just very tough and a very good tactician."

In semifinal action, Matt Battaglia finished third in the men's 800 meter run and Seena Frantz placed ninth in the women's 5,000 meter run, with each earning a spot in today's final races. The men's 4x100-meter relay team hit a season-best time of 41.69 to finish 11th, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the final race. The women's 4x100 meter relay team finished 16th and the men's 4x400 meter relay team finished 18th in their semifinal races.

Heading into today's final events, the SOU men are tied for ninth place in the team rankings with 12 points. The Raider women are tied for 33rd with three points. Action begins at 6 a.m. Eastern with the marathon.

"Tomorrow is a big day for us," Gatlin said. "We have a chance to do really well. Our whole season comes down to one day, and we hope to make that day great."
