Georgette Marie Jeanne Eucelda Turcotte was born July 19, 1921, in Piopolis, Quebec to Joseph Turcotte and Emma Cousineau Turcotte. She passed away June 4, 2012, in Medford, Ore.
After World War II, Gigi emigrated to New York City, N.Y., along with her sister, Anita. In 1950, she married Irish immigrant and U.S. Navy veteran, Francis John Conlan, at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in Manhattan, N.Y. In 1952, she was quite proud to become a United States citizen. Frank died in 1972.
After a long and successful career in the insurance business, Gigi retired to Florida with companion, Joseph Ladore. There they enjoyed walks on the beach, and she enjoyed gardening and needlepoint. Following Joseph's death in 2005, she moved to Southern Oregon to be close to his daughter, Jo Ann Ladore Smith, and her husband, Neal Smith.
Gigi is remembered by many for her conversational skills and charming Quebecois accent. We would like to thank Pioneer Village in Jacksonville, Ore., for the excellent care provided during her longtime residence there.
Georgette was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by sister-in-law, Juliette Turcotte, of Lac-Megantic, Quebec; nephews, Claude Drouin, of Laval, Quebec, Jean Maurice Drouin, of Terrebonne, Quebec, and Richard Turcotte, of Lac-Megantic, Quebec; and nieces, Collette Vignola, of Southgate, Mich., Martine Turcotte, of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, and Denise Turcotte, of Sherbrooke, Quebec.
