The annual barbecue competition starts today at 4 p.m. in Central Point and continues all weekend.

Warm up your taste buds with grilled chicken or shrimp kabobs for $3 or $4 from 4 to 9 p.m. Grants Pass band The Roadsters and the KRWQ 100.3 Country Showdown provide the evening's entertainment.

Hard-core barbecuing starts Saturday with pulled pork and chili competitions from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., or while supplies last. Sunday brings barbecued chicken and chili cook-offs with sampling from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for meat or $5 for chili.

Beer and wine tasting is also part of the festival for $10. Choose your souvenir glass and get 16, 2-ounce tastes of beer or 10, 1-ounce tastes of wine.
