CORVALLIS — David Crofton pitched a two-hit complete game and North Medford jumped out to an 8-0 lead before picking up its 10th straight win, 10-1 over Tigard on Friday during the second day of the Corvallis Summer Slam Woodbat Tournament at Corvallis High School.

CORVALLIS — David Crofton pitched a two-hit complete game and North Medford jumped out to an 8-0 lead before picking up its 10th straight win, 10-1 over Tigard on Friday during the second day of the Corvallis Summer Slam Woodbat Tournament at Corvallis High School.

Crofton struck out eight, walked four and allowed one run in the American Legion A game to improve to 3-0 for the Mavericks (15-2), whose second game of the day against Sprague was rained out and rescheduled for Sunday morning.

Offensively, North Medford was led by Austin Zavala (3-for-3, two runs, two RBIs), Taylor Raff (3-for-4, two runs), Micah Brown (2-for-4, two doubles, two runs) and Honus Keindrich (2-for-2).

North, which hasn't lost since June 11, is slated to play host Corvallis this afternoon.

CASCADE/ST. MARY'S/ROGUE RIVER 8-16, KLAMATH FALLS 1-8 — At Klamath Falls, Rogue River's Brian Stinchcomb finished the day 5-for-5 with two triples, two doubles, six RBIs and six runs scored for the Wolfpack in the Area 4 sweep of the Klamath Falls North Hawks.

Stinchcomb was 3-for-3 with five RBIs and four runs in Game 2.

In the opener, Dillon Huntley pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks for the Wolfpack (3-7). At the plate, Daniel Scottow had two hits and Tim Martin added a two-run single in the first inning.

In the nightcap, Stinchcomb pounded a three-run triple in the third inning and teammates Jared Ritchie and Huntley finished with two hits apiece. Relief pitcher Luke Dusenbury, who entered in the fifth, recorded seven straight strikeouts to end the contest.

OREGON JUNIOR STROKE PLAY — At Woodburn, Medford's Dylan Wu continued his hot summer with a runaway win at the Oregon Junior Stroke Play event with an even-par 72 in the final round Thursday to win by eight strokes over runner-up Connor Kumpala of Albany.

Wu, 15, opened with a 4-under 68 in Tuesday's first round, then fired a 6-under 66 in the second round to extend his lead to 10 strokes.
