Karla Neill, 54, of Talent, Ore., passed away Monday, June 18, 2012, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford.
She was born May 26, 1958, in Los Angeles, Calif. She graduated from Santa Monica High School in 1977. At the age of five, Karla was diagnosed with schizophrenia. In spite of her disease, Karla enjoyed painting and needlework. She had an astonishingly good memory for dates, names, and details, and also knew the names of hundreds of plants and flowers.
All her life she was sweet and kind to those around her. Simple things made her very happy a fresh bouquet, chocolate, dolls, stuffed animals, and going out to lunch. Never take lunch for granted. It's always new, always fresh, she would advise.
Karla was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Osterman Neill; and her father, William James Neill. She is survived by her sister, Anna Baker, and brother-in-law, William Powell, of Talent, Ore.; her niece, Maggie Baker, of Baltimore, Md.; her nephew, Jack Baker, of Talent, Ore.; her cousins Kristin Goldthorpe, Kevin Osterman, Marianne Roda, Coleen Zimmer, and other loving cousins; and by her special friend and tutor, Ann Morris Stokes.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jackson County Behavioral Health.
