Roger Mark Johnson, third son of Dorothy Margaret Schneller and Russell Arthur Johnson, was born October 8, 1949, in Duluth, Minn. The family moved to Medford, Ore., in 1956, where Russell worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a timber manager and Dorothy worked as a registered nurse at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Roger passed away in Bend, Ore., June 10, 2012, just days after attending his

father's 90th birthday party.

Roger attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Medford Senior High, graduating in 1967. He achieved good grades and was a member of the Russian Club. He was an accomplished downhill skier, learning on the slopes of Mt. Ashland. He attended the University of Oregon, where he majored in architecture. Roger also attended Southern Oregon University, where he obtained Bachelor's and Master's of Business Administration degrees. Roger lived in the Rogue River Valley for most of his life. In Medford he worked as a freelance architectural draftsman and operated his own drafting business. Roger was always so pleased to show visitors to Medford the many homes and office buildings that he designed. In mid-2010, he was felled by a serious illness and moved to Bend to be closer to his family.

Roger was an excellent photographer, taking thousands of pictures. His favorite film topics were family and flowers. Roger adjusted to his final years with dignity. We recall the many phone calls he made to family members, reflecting his keen sense of the value of family in his life, and his strong commitment to maintaining family. People remember Roger for his sharp intelligence, large vocabulary, dry wit, and

willingness to help.

His mother preceded him in death in November 2008. Roger is survived by his father, of Bend, Ore.; and six siblings, Bruce, of Olympia, Wash., Eric, of Auburn, Wash., Carl, of Tempe, Ariz., Keith, of Shingle Springs, Calif., Karen, of Bend, Ore., and Deb, of Eugene, Ore.

Funeral arrangements are made by Redmond Memorial Chapel, Redmond, Ore., 541-548-3219, with funeral services at 10:00 a.m., June 25, 2012. Final interment is to follow at Redmond Memorial Cemetery.
