Two large trees have fallen in Lithia Park near the upper duck pond, Ashland officials said.

One, a large cedar, fell across Winburn Way. The street is closed and is expected to re-open later this evening, officials said in a news release.

The second tree, a large pine, fell across the upper duck pond. It has not yet been removed and officials warn people not to walk across the tree.

The trees, which were each about 70 feet tall, came crashing down around 3:30 p.m. No one was injured.

Director of Parks Don Robertson said the two tree apparently shared the same space, and the root ball of the cedar was resting on top of the root ball of the pine. There is no sign of rot or disease in either tree and no indication as to what caused the trees to fall.
