Learn about a new community-based program designed to help residents and businesses implement solar power.

A free workshop is set for 6 p.m. at Pioneer Hall, 73 Winburn Way, Ashland.

Rogue Valley Council of Governments launched Rogue Solar to help people overcome logistical and financial hurdles to going solar.

The program is based on a model that has succeeded around the state, organizers said. It offers informational workshops, equipment discounts, connections with certified contractors, and help with permits, rebates and other paperwork.

Additional workshops are planned in Medford, Eagle Point and Grants Pass in coming months.
