Gene L. Lee, of Medford, Ore., passed away June 22, 2012, at the age of 87.

A long-time Rogue Valley resident, Gene was born in Lewiston, Idaho August 15, 1924, and raised in China before returning to America. As a young woman, she married Canton Sheu Lee, one of the founders of Kim's Restaurant. Together, they raised five children: Tom (Ping), Dennis, Michael, Katy, and Molly.

Over the years, she was a life-long contributor to the family's restaurants, first Kim's and then the Canton Dynasty. In retirement, she remained active up to the last weeks of her life, tending to her large garden and working out nearly daily.

Gene is preceded in death by her husband, Canton; and son, Dennis. She is survived by her remaining children, their spouses Carol and Tad; her grandchildren, Christina (and husband, Matt), Eugene, Nick, Bradley, Colin, and Ethan; and her great-grandchildren, Nora and June.

Her family in particular remembers her generous spirit, forever giving relatives and friends gifts from her kitchen, garden, or knitting basket.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations go to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

A service will be held Sunday, July 1, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Conger-Morris, 800 South Front Street, Central Point, Ore.
