A network of 32 drop-off sites along the Oregon coast are ready to collect debris washing ashore from the 2011 tsunami that struck Japan, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department reported.

The drop-off sites at state parks and waste transfer stations are free. Those who see possible debris can also call 211 or 1-800-SAFENET, or email beach.debris@state.or.us to report it. Residents seeing large debris should not attempt to bring it to a designated site, but report it instead.

The debris must be bagged in official beach cleanup bags, available at state park campgrounds.
