Rogue Valley Clean Cities Coalition will host an electric car show and forum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Rogue Federal Credit Union's north Medford location, 1330 Poplar Drive.

The event will feature electric vehicle displays and presentations about electric cars and financing. EV owners will answer questions.

Rogue Valley Clean Cities Coalition is made up of businesses and public agencies working together to encourage the use of alternative fuels. Lunch is provided at the event. RSVP to martin@roguevalleycleancities.org.

Southern Oregon motels, hotels and inns fared well in June, according to the latest statistics compiled by Smith Travel Research of Tennessee.

Occupancy rose 6.1 percent, revenue per available room rose 7.7 percent to $57.61, demand climbed 6.1 percent and overall room revenue grew 7.8 percent to more than $14.7 million.

The region's occupancy still trails 2011 through the first six months by less than 1 percent. But room rates — an average of $74.35 — are up 2.5 percent. The revenue per available room for the first half of the year was up 1.7 percent to $35.85.
