A Central Point man admitted to Sky Lakes Medical Center with serious injuries following a traffic crash on Highway 140 Tuesday has been upgraded to fair condition as of this morning, hospital officials said.

Charles Whittington, 72, was one of four men in a passenger van eastbound on the highway when a car, driven by 19-year-old Halie Budden of Klamath Falls, tried to make a left turn in front of them into the Odessa Market parking lot.

The passenger van slammed into her car, and both vehicles came to rest in a ditch near milepost 45, Oregon State Police reported. Budden was airlifted to Providence Medical Center. Whittington and the van's other passengers were taken to Sky Lakes in Klamath Falls.

Budden was cited by Oregon State Police for a dangerous left turn.
