KSKQ, a community-owned and -operated radio station based in Ashland, is planning a massive yard sale and waffle fest this weekend to raise money to expand its signal.

The event will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the station, 330 E. Hersey St., No. 2. A September on-air membership campaign and additional monthly events are planned through the end of the year.

Volunteers want to raise $16,500 by year's end to expand the station's signal from the California border to Shady Cove and from Jacksonville to the Mountain Lakes area. The boost in power requires a specially-tuned antenna, a stereo transmitter and modifications to the fire tower on which the antenna is mounted.

KSKQ can be heard in Ashland and Talent at 89.5 FM and on the web at www.kskq.org.
