Mary Jane Simmonds, 84, passed away August 3, 2012, at her residence in Medford, Ore. She was born in Clayton, Kan., August 29, 1927, to Harold and Margerat Vessey. She moved to Medford with her family at eight years old. Mary was a student at Medford High School. Over the course of her life, she lived in San Diego, Calif., Norfolk, Va., and Portland, Ore., as a result of moving around with her Naval husband.

Mary worked alongside her husband, V.V. Bud Simmonds, the majority of her working career. She rasied two families and enjoyed being with family and friends. Mary loved to travel and play golf. In her younger years she was quite the water-skier, winning many trophies along the way. In her golden years her favorite thing to do was golf; she loved the game and the people she played with.

Mary has contributed to many charities and was a member of Order of Eastern Star and the Eagles Lodge. She donated her time to both family and friends.

Mary is survived by her husband of almost 67 years, Bud Simmonds, of Medford; daughter, Teresa Bratton; grandchildren, Christine and Andy Bratton; and great-grandchildren, Katie, Zarith, and Isaac, of Medford.

Mary was preceded in death by her son, Larry V. Simmonds; and granddaughter, Melissa Simmonds.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, September 7, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford, OR 97504. There will be a reception after the services at 3581 Lear Way, Medford, OR 97504, behind Walmart and Costco.
