Anyone wanting to get rid of expired and unused prescriptions can bring them to Medford City Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

Medford police hope to reduce the availability in homes of unused prescriptions, which can be abused by others if left unchecked.

Residents can bring prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, medical samples, pet medications, ointments, lotions and liquid medications in leak-proof containers. Officials will not accept illegal substances, needles, thermometers, medical waste, aerosol cans or inhalers.

Medford City Hall also has a permanent drop box in the lobby for those unable to attend Saturday's event.

City Hall is at 411 W. Eighth St.
