A man received stab wounds to his abdomen and hands following an attack as he walked home on Dakota Street Wednesday night, police reported.

A man received stab wounds to his abdomen and hands following an attack as he walked home on Dakota Street Wednesday night, police reported.

The man, in his late 20s, was somewhere in the 400 to 500 block of Dakota Street near Plum Street at around 10 p.m. when another man, also in his 20s, assaulted him with a knife before running off. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a dark sweatshirt between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. Medford police say they have not yet apprehended the attacker. Sgt. Tom Ianeri of Medford police said the incident is still under investigation but possibly gang-related.

Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital, where he is recovering. The extent of his injuries is not known.
