Robert L. Rampy (Bob) was born to Mr. & Mrs Wesley L. Rampy on December 11, 1924 in Three Forks, Mont. His parents farmed west of Three Forks where they raised dry land wheat. He attended grade schools in the Gallatin Valley & graduated from Belgrade High School in 1944. He was serving in the U.S. Army at the time of his graduation
He served in the European Theater of Operations during WWII as an Infantryman. Upon his return to Montana he met the love of his life and married Fern F. Schwarz on January 17, 1947. They have four sons: Lynn Rampy, Jr. (Paula) of Keizer Ore., Ross Rampy (Pat) of Ashland, Ore., Dean Rampy (Connie) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Doug Rampy (Annette) of Altoona, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife Fern, their four sons, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers; sisters, Nell (Bud, deceased) Moore of Bozeman, Mont., and Roseanne (Carl) Coy of Laurel, Mont.; brothers, Lee (Betty) Rampy of Twin Bridges, Mont., and Ed (Barbara) Rampy of West Yellowstone, Mont. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Rampy, Minot, N.D.
After his marriage in 1947 he lived in Bozeman, Mont. and worked at various jobs. He became Secretary/Treasurer of the Teamsters' Local #53 in 1953 which he held for 21 years. Was appointed by former Montana Governor Anderson to serve on the Unemployment Commission Board of Montana. Bob remained an active member of the U.S. Army Reserve. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in May 1979 with the rank of Sergeant Major.
In January 1974 was appointed as an International Auditor for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and work in the San Francisco, Calif. bay area. He held this position until he retired on December 31, 1989. Bob and Fern moved to Cave Creek, Ariz. in 1991 and in January 2001 they moved to Medford, Ore.
