Ruth Lorraine Dickerson passed away October 17, 2013, at the age of 93 in Portland, Ore. She was born May 11, 1920 in Oswego, Kans. She was the youngest of five Children. The family moved to Parsons, Kans when she was one and half years of age, where she grew up and graduated from High School.

She married Vernon Dickerson on November 11, 1940. Vernon was employed by the Missouri, Kansas & Texas railroad. Vernon transferred to the Southern Pacific Railroad In 1945 and the family moved many times within California, first to Bakersfield, Truckee, Gerber, Dunsmuir and finally Alturas. Vernon passed away in October of 1963. In 1966 Ruth moved to Medford, Ore. with her three youngest children and lived there until 2004 when she moved to Beaverton, Ore.

Ruth enjoyed working for Providence Hospital for many years and retired in 1985. She passed her driver's license when she was 50 years old and she loved to drive, traveling all over the United States. She finally gave up driving when she moved to Beaverton. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, she would always be there, never judging and always supportive. She was a taxi driver for you and your friends, and she never missed a sporting event that you were involved in. She taught us to never judge a person by their appearance but by their character.

She is survived by her eight children, four boys (Gary, Jerry, Terry, and Larry) and four girls (Judy Fohr, Linda Milford, Sandy Midwood, and Becky). She also has 26 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Cemetery in Alturas, Calif. There will be a celebration life gathering at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 3, 2013. at Events on the Peak in Central Point, Ore. You can find directions on their web site.
