Boaters whose registration decals are set to expire Dec. 31 will get registration renewal notices in the mail soon.

The Oregon Marine Board will mail out about 90,000 such notices Nov. 1.

Boat owners who receive the renewal notice can renew online at www.boatoregon.com. Once there, boaters should click the "click here to renew online" link or the registration decal image. After that, they just enter the renewal notice information.

The online system is secure and the Marine Board does not retain any credit card data, officials said. There is no processing fee for renewing online.

Boaters can also renew their registrations at the Marine Board Office in Salem, by mail or through 79 registration agents statewide. A list, as well as an interactive map of Marine Board registration agents can be found at www.oregon.gov/OSMB/BoatReg/Pages/Boat-Registration-Agents.aspx, where you can get the agent phone number and driving directions.
