Several school board members serving in Jackson County earned honors for completing course work through the Oregon School Boards Association's Leadership Institute.

Richard Pardy, Rogue River School Board member, was recognized with a platinum award. Larry Nicholson, Medford School Board member, earned a bronze award.

The awards, presented Saturday, Nov. 16, at the association's annual convention in Portland, recognize board members for significant levels of achievement in leadership and development. There are four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum.

Betsy Miller-Jones, OSBA's executive director, congratulated recipients on their achievement, noting it shows an extra measure of dedication.

The association is a member services agency for more than 200 locally elected boards serving school districts, education service districts, community colleges and charter schools.
