The Southern Oregon Spartans jumped out to a big lead and hung on for a 5-3 win over the Missoula Maulers in Western States Hockey League action at The RRRink on Friday.

The Southern Oregon Spartans jumped out to a big lead and hung on for a 5-3 win over the Missoula Maulers in Western States Hockey League action at The RRRink on Friday.

Ging Martin, Arturs Buss, Donnie Nagle IV and Carl Edstrom each had one goal and one assist for the Spartans, who led 3-0 before Missoula drew with two in the second period.

Ben Henry's goal put Southern Oregon ahead, 4-2.

The Spartans outshot the Maulers (4-4-3), 42-30.

Ian Dvorak made 27 saves for Southern Oregon (5-10-1), which continues its three-game series with Missoula at 7:30 tonight at The RRRink.

Sunday's game will be played at outdoors Bill Collier Community Arena in Klamath Falls at 1:30 p.m.
