The South Medford girls basketball team romped past nationally ranked Nazareth Regional, of Brooklyn, N.Y., 60-29 today in the Title IX Holiday Classic in Washington, D.C.

Nazareth (9-2) is the No. 10 team in the country based on ESPN high school rankings. It won the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz., recently and made its debut in the latest ESPN poll.

The Panthers, behind 19 first-half points from Andee Ritter, led 41-15 after two quarters. Ritter's big game — she finished with 25 points — came despite her having to visit an emergency room the night before after losing hearing in one ear due to an infection, said coach Tom Cole.

South Medford is 6-2, both losses coming to teams ranked in the top 13 of national polls.
