Maxine Vennette Martin died peacefully at her home in Tangent, Ore., January 21, 2014. She was 99 years old.
Maxine was born in Minneapolis, Minn., November 20, 1914, to Andrew T. and Clara S. Burelson. She graduated high school in 1932, attending Calhoun Business College. Maxine became the private secretary to the manager of Pure Oil Company in Minneapolis, and remained there 12 years. During this time, she also did some modeling.
In 1946, she met and married Robert J. Martin, moving to Oregon in 1951. She was a real estate loan officer at First National Bank (currently Wells Fargo) in Central Point, Ore., for 21 years.
Upon retirement in Medford, Ore., she and her husband enjoyed traveling in their trailer. In 1991, they moved to Tangent, to be closer to their daughter and family. Maxine loved puzzles of all kinds, sewing, gardening, reading, and especially, family gatherings. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will dearly miss their Nana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1998; two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by daughter, Tari L. Morse and husband Mike, of Corvallis, Ore.; son, Bradley M. Martin and wife, Renee, of Gilbert, Az.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
