Kenneth Lewis Curtis was born January 24, 1926, in Saratoga, Wyoming. He was the only child of Raymond and Violet Curtis. His family lived in several cities in Wyoming, including Rawlins, Jackson Hole, and Green River, before moving to Keno, Ore., where his father became the head millwright at Ellingson Mill on the Klamath River. Kenneth passed to heaven on his 88th birthday, January 24, 2014.

Kenneth attended school in Keno, Ore., and as a boy loved to hunt and fish with his father and, as he would say, grew to love all things wild. In 1943, at the age of 18, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy and became a coxswain and shipfitter. He saw action in several naval campaigns during WWII in the South Pacific. In 1946, after discharge from the Navy, on a double-date in Medford, he met the love of his life and future wife, Lily Fern Corcoran. They were married on February 1, 1947. They were married for eight days shy of their 67th wedding anniversary.

Kenneth was a building contractor and with the invaluable assistance of his wife, Lily, he built many gorgeous homes and apartment buildings in the Rogue Valley during the 60s, 70s and 80s.

Kenneth enjoyed hunting with his family members and many hunting buddies. He particularly enjoyed horses and mules and the many pack trips he took with the animals he trained. He and Lily, along with many members of a wagon train, rode the Oregon Trail in 1984. Rather than ride the wagons, Kenneth and Lily chose to ride chose to ride horseback. Kenneth also rode the Applegate Trail twice.

Kenneth remained active after retirement and would drive each morning to have coffee, breakfast, and conversation with his buddies. He was a shopper, and could tell you the best prices of everything in town.

Kenneth and Lily were nearly original members of R Ranch in Hornbrook, Calif., and belonged to several travel clubs. They enjoyed traveling the United States and Mexico in their motor home. They enjoyed camping with friends, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Kenneth was dearly loved by all.

Kenneth is survived by wife, Lily Curtis; son, Kenneth Ray Curtis (Barbara), and his daughter, Camille Kay Parker-Brewer (Roy); grandchildren, Casey Curtis (Shannon), Tara Curtis, Kendra Cook (Matt), Kerry Curtis (Tara), Cody Parker, Cari Parker and Josh Bolton; as well as his great-grandchildren, Colton Curtis, Connor Curtis, Wyatt Cook, Baylee Cook, Dalton Cook, Neveah Smith, Easton Curtis, Brinley Curtis, and Capri Curtis. Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved son, Clark William Curtis (1993).

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Perl Funeral Home, 2100 Siskiyou Blvd., Medford OR.
