ACCESS has received a $50,000 boost from the Walmart Foundation for its nutrition programs that help needy families in Jackson County.

ACCESS has received a $50,000 boost from the Walmart Foundation for its nutrition programs that help needy families in Jackson County.

The grant will help pay for projects including the Fresh Alliance Food Recovery Program.

The Fresh Alliance program started in 2005 and enables ACCESS to pick up more than 615,000 pounds of frozen meat, dairy, milk, deli and dry product donations each year from participating stores. Its partner stores include Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Ray's Food Place, Target, Trader Joe's, Cash & Carry and Walmart.
