The alleged gunman in a two-man robbery of a Stop & Shop Market in Medford was arrested Wednesday by police in Oakland, Calif.

Demario Aundre Jackson, 24, of Stockton, Calif., is held in Alameda County's Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, Calif. He is held without bail on a parole violation for a weapons charge. Jail records show he is set to be arraigned on the parole violation charge April 11.

Jackson will face additional charges of first- and second-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and unauthorized use of a weapon in Jackson County. He was indicted by a Jackson County grand jury March 20 for his suspected role in a March 16 robbery of the Stop & Shop at 2751 N. Pacific Highway, Medford.

Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said that the getaway car, a white 1987 Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen in Stockton, was found abandoned in Stockton March 24.

Jackson and another man who has not yet been identified walked into the Medford convenience store at around 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, police said. Both men allegedly jumped the counter, and Jackson is suspected of pointing a gun at the woman clerk working. There was no one else in the store at the time. The two took money from the register and fled. Neither wore masks.

Photos from the store's security cameras and tips from a witness who spotted the suspects' car near Hawthorne Park helped identify the Camry as a car stolen from a Winco parking lot in Stockton March 12.

Investigators also determined that the suspects had visited the store around noon on the day of the robbery to buy cigars.

"We did receive some very vital tips from the public in this case," Budreau said.

Police identified Jackson as a suspect and a Jackson County Grand Jury indicted him Thursday, March 20. A San Joaquin County Fugitive Task Force arrested Jackson March 26. None of the money stolen during the robbery was recovered.

Police are still on the lookout for the other suspect. He is described as a black male between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet in height. During the robbery, he wore a red and black Miami Heat hat, a red and black striped sweater and baggy jeans. Anyone with information about his whereabouts and identity should contact Medford police at 541-770-4783.
