  • Online voting started Monday for grant program that could help local mountain bikers build a showpiece "flow trail" in Medford's Prescott Park.
Bell, the bicycle-helmet manufacturer, is giving away $100,000 in grants to three mountain bike trail-building projects across the country, and Medford's trail is one of the finalists.
The money would fund a specially contoured trail that would descend 1,600 vertical feet through Prescott Park, featuring sloped berms and reinforced sections to ensure its durability.
Members of the Rogue Valley Mountain Bike Association say they want to make it the best mountain bike trail in the valley — and perhaps the region.
You can view videos produced by Bell of all four projects in the running for the West Coast grant, and vote for your favorite, at http://www.bellhelmets.com/bellbuilt/
As of Tuesday morning, the Prescott Park project trailed the other three projects, which are located in Marin County, Calif., Santa Cruz, Calif., and Flagstaff, Ariz.
Voting continues until April 20, and the West Coast winner will be announced April 21.
