  • CORE Business Services has named Brian Simmons vice president and chief operating officer. He was previously operations director for the managed services provider.
    Simmons joined CORE in 2009 after a year with Northwest Timber Fallers, where he was a contract specialist. Previously, he was in the property management industry with CTL Management of Portland. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business.

    Friends of the Animal Shelter has named Jim Ormand executive director. Ormand has more than 25 years experience working as an executive director or CEO for nonprofit disability and community service organizations in Oregon, California, Louisiana, Texas, Florida and North Dakota. Ormand is a 2004 graduate of the Jackson/Medford Chamber Leadership Program. His family has resided in Southern Oregon since 2002.

    Kelley Zendejas has joined the sales staff at Finish Line Real Estate. For the past three years, Zendejas has managed House to Home Gallery, a furniture consignment store in Medford. Before that, she worked three years as a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service and waited tables during the offseason.

    Annette Elg and Dennis Johnson have been named to the Cascade Bancorp board, parent company for Bank of the Cascades. The appointments are the first additions since Home Federal Bank was acquired in May.
    Since 2002, Elg has been senior vice president and CFO for J.R. Simplot Co., a privately held agribusiness she joined in 1989.
    Johnson has extensive experience in corporate C-Suite leadership and a strong securities and legal background. He has served since 1999 as president and CEO of United Heritage Mutual Holding Company, which owns four insurance companies. He also was president and CEO of United Heritage Financial Services, a general securities broker-dealer.

    Former jetBlue Airways vice president of maintenance and engineering David Campbell has been named president and chief operating officer for Horizon Air.
    Before his time with jetBlue, Campbell was vice president of safety and operational performance at American Airlines.
    He joined American in 1988 after serving for four years in the U.S. Air Force and has overseen maintenance, quality, technical operations and safety. He succeeds Glenn Johnson, who will retire Sept. 1.
