Ethel Iris McCoy died peacefully in her sleep June 25, 2014 at home attended by her San Jose, Calif. family. She was born October 5, 1916 in Franklin, Texas. She was the second of four children born to Albert and Lillian Vickery.
She met and married George "Skeet" McCoy in south San Antonio, Texas. They had two sons, Charles and James McCoy. The family moved to Livermore, Calif. in 1951. They later moved to Watsonville, Calif. then San Jose, Calif. in 1959. They settled in Ashland, Ore. in 1965. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland.
She loved Eastern Star life and volunteering at the local elementary school and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader most of her life. Everyone like listening to her stories of her family and travels. Traveling and seeing new parts of the country was a favorite passion of hers.
She was very close to her family in Oregon, California, and Texas. She will be remembered by her family as a loving and giving woman who always put other people's needs first.
She is survived by her son, Chuck (Kathy); daughter-in-law, Dana; grandchildren, Deborah McCoy, Cindy Silva (Kenneth), Laura Ashland (Taylor), Danelle McCoy (Paul), Larissa McCoy, Linda Hughes (Robert), Jim Birk (Jackie), and John Birk. There are also 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Skeet McCoy and son, James.
A private family interment is planned in Ashland.
