  • The Central Point Comets spotted Roseburg Pepsi six runs before turning on a rally and ultimately falling, 11-8, during an American Legion A state tournament elimination game at Harry & David Field on Saturday.
    Pepsi will take on La Grande at 1 p.m. today, with the winner advancing to face North Medford in the championship at 4:30 p.m.
    Cavin Gillispie finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and Brayden Havener 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Comets, who fell behind 6-0 in the first inning before scoring five in the fourth and two more in the fifth to even the score at 7. But in the bottom of the fifth, Isaac Smith pounded a two-run triple to give the Bottlecaps a lead they would not relinquish.
    Smith went 3-for-4.

    LA GRANDE 7, NORTH MEDFORD 2 — With a berth in today's title game already clinched, North Medford fell to La Grande.
    Dakota Adams was 2-for-3 and Tate Cowden 2-for-4 for the Mavericks.
    Jake Chamberlain went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Eli Wisdom 2-for-4 with a double and RBI for La Grande.

    BEND 6, MEDFORD 3 — At Bend, Bend used a four-run third inning to create enough separation in West Coast League action.
    Ryan Teel went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored, Tucker Campbell 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Spencer Smith 2-for-4 for the Rogues (23-24), who are in third place out of four teams in the South Division. Bend (27-20) is second.
